Who We Are:

Terwillegar Community Preschool (TCP) operates from September to June out of Terwillegar Community Church. Since 2012, we have offered provincially licensed preschool programs for 3- and 4-year-olds.

The staff at TCP are dedicated to providing a loving and supportive environment while meeting the individual needs of each child in our program.

Our curriculum is taught from a Christian perspective and introduces a broad range of skills within a monthly theme. Classrooms are equipped with a variety of books, toys, games, art supplies, and other materials that support the monthly themes, as well as literacy and numeracy development. Each month also incorporates character-building activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you require parents to volunteer or participate in fundraisers throughout the year?
A: No, there are no volunteer or fundraising requirements for our program.

Q: Do current and alumni families have priority for future registrations?
A:
Yes. Once current students and their siblings are placed in their preferred class, we place siblings of previous students before opening registration to new families. Alumni families should email Nicole Michaud at preschool@tcchurch.ca with their child’s name, birth year, and preferred class days/times. Please note that you still need to submit an online registration form when general registration opens.

Q: If my child is absent from class, do I still pay the same monthly fee?
A: Yes. Monthly fees remain the same regardless of the reason or duration of absence.

Q: How do I submit the registration fee and tuition payments?
A: Payments can be sent via e-transfer to admin@tcpreschool.ca, payable to Terwillegar Community Preschool Society.

Q: Is subsidy available for the preschool’s tuition fees?
A: As of April 2025, government subsidies are no longer available for preschool programs.

Q: Can my child begin attending classes at any point during the year?
A: New enrollments are accepted up until January 31st. After that, registration is for the following school year.

Q: Can my child start attending classes if they haven’t yet had their third birthday?
A: No. All students must be three years old before attending classes. Families may choose to pay monthly fees to hold a spot until their child is eligible.

Q: Does my child need to be fully potty trained before attending classes?
A: Yes. Diapers and pull-ups are not permitted in our licensed facility.

Q: My child has special needs. Can they still attend TCP?
A: Yes. If your child requires additional support, we are happy to work with any agency you choose. Please select “Yes” on the registration form where it asks if your child requires support, and email preschool@tcchurch.ca to coordinate with our director.

Q: Can my child attend more than one class?
A: This request is more likely to be accommodated in our afternoon classes. Please email preschool@tcchurch.ca to coordinate with our director.

Q: What if I register online but do not receive a confirmation email?
A: First, check your junk or spam folder. You may also add the domains tcchurch.ca, tcpreschool.ca, and squarespace.com to your safe senders list. Please note that our system does not generate automatic confirmation emails. Confirmation will come directly from our director, Nicole Michaud, within a few weeks following registration.

Registration

Students are placed in a class or on our waitlist in the order that registration is received. Placement is subject to a confirmation process, and each class has a maximum enrollment of 12 students. Due to high demand, particularly for morning classes, if your preferred class is full, you will be placed in the next available class of your choice. If all preferred classes are full, your child will be added to a waiting list. Positions may become available if earlier registrations are not confirmed in time. You will be notified via email within two weeks whether your child has a space reserved or has been placed on the waiting list. A non-refundable registration fee of $75 is due upon confirmation of enrollment.

Overview of the Registration Process:

  1. Complete and submit the online registration form.

  2. Wait for email confirmation from the Director regarding a space for your child (up to two weeks from the registration date).

  3. Upon confirmation, submit the registration fee via e-transfer within two weeks.

  4. If the registration fee is not received within two weeks, the space will be offered to the next child on the waiting list.

Our Staff

Nicole Michaud | director & TEacher

I have been the Director of Terwillegar Community Preschool since it began in 2012.  It brings me great joy to teach the children in our community and to build relationships with them and with their families.  I dreamed of being a teacher from the time I was preschool age myself!  I also dreamed of being a wife and a mother- my husband is Guy and I have two teenagers (yikes!) Zackery and Alexa.  We also include in our family two beautiful Siamese cats- Lucky and Lucy, and an aquatic frog named Lulu.  My favourite things to do in my spare time are reading mystery novels, doing puzzles, eating popcorn and drinking peppermint tea!

My favourite Bible verse is Psalm 28:7
“The Lord is my strength and shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me.  My heart leaps for joy and with my song I praise Him.”

Kim VanRoon | Teacher

I was born and raised in Edmonton and graduated from the U of A Education program in 1996.  I taught in the Edmonton area for five years and was a stay-at-home mom for thirteen years.  I have been a teacher at Terwillegar Community Preschool since 2014.  I live in southwest Edmonton with my husband and two daughters, and our dog and cat.  I really love teaching and getting to know my students and their families!  The highlight of every year is seeing how much all the children grow, change and learn!  It's also wonderful to see them develop their friendships in our classroom community!

My favourite Bible verse is Psalm 46:10
“Be still and know that I am God. “

Noreen Lewis | Teacher

I am very excited for another year of teaching! I have been teaching at TCP since 2017 when I moved to Edmonton from Nelson, BC where I was also a preschool teacher. I have two young children (Eli and Rebekah). I am so looking forward to meeting new little faces and teaching them as they grow!

My favourite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Emily Richer | Teaching Assistant

I started working at TCP in September 2016, spending five wonderful years as a teaching assistant before transitioning to an administrative role elsewhere. I am thrilled to return to TCP, where I am so excited to reconnect with the children, families and teachers, and look forward to many more years ahead!

My passion for working with children has been a central part of my career, and I am excited to bring my experience and enthusiasm back into the classroom. Outside of work, I share my life with two cats, Fidget and Jim, and my wonderful fiancé Ben.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, taking walks, practicing yoga, watching TV, and baking. I'm looking forward to a fantastic school year ahead and can't wait to get to know all the wonderful students and families in our program!

My favourite Bible verse is John 13:34 “Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another.”

Qiuxia Zhang | Teaching Assistant

I am a mom with two children.  I have been working at TCP since September 2016.  I love working with young children because they make me laugh and they teach me to see things from a different perspective.  They are so much fun to watch as they play, learn, and grow!

My favourite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

grace Lo | Teaching Assistant

I was born and raised in Edmonton. I graduated from the U of A Bachelor of Education in 2008. I started teaching at TCP in 2012 and I am excited to join this lovely teaching team again after having 3 children. I live in the southwest community with my husband, and 3 children (Noah, Rylee, and Miles). We love to go biking as a family, and my husband and I have just started to play more pickleball.

As a teacher, I love the opportunity to see the kids grow a little more every week as they discover with curiosity, the world around them. I look forward to getting to know each student and their families.

My favourite Bible verse is Matthew 5:16

“Let your light shine before men, so they may see your good works and praise your Father in heaven.”

Karen Dalby | administration

I have been with TCP since it began operating in 2012. I returned from my honeymoon just in time to start classes, and got used to being Mrs. Dalby very quickly! I enjoyed a few years in the classroom before going on maternity leave with my son Oskar. I stayed connected by assuming an administrative role, and as soon as Oskar was old enough to attend as a student, I also returned to classes. While I have enjoyed assisting in the classroom and the animated excitement that preschool children exude, I have once again transitioned to an administrative role and I look forward to many more years with TCP.

My favourite Bible verse is Proverbs 16:9
“In their hearts humans plan their course but the Lord establishes their steps.”
