Our Journey of Generosity
A Practical Practice for Our Church Community
Generosity is not something we simply talk about, it’s something we practice together. Our Journey of Generosity is a four-week communal practice designed to help us move from intention to action, from awareness to embodied love. Each week invites us to give in a tangible, accessible way to meet real needs in our city.
Rather than focusing on one large act of giving, we are choosing small, intentional steps over several weeks. This allows every person and household to participate as they are able, while reminding us that generosity is formed through repeated practice.
Each week, we will partner with a local organization that is already doing faithful, on-the-ground work in Edmonton. Our role is simple: to come alongside them with what we have.
January 25 - February 7
Gift-cards for Old Strathcona Street Mission
What to bring:
$20 or more gift cards to McDonald’s or A&W
Old Strathcona Street Mission serves individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in our city. Gift cards provide flexibility, dignity, and immediate access to warm meals. This week, our generosity becomes personal—meeting people where they are with something practical and usable.
February 8 - February 21
Gently Used Clothing Items for Refugee Bridge
What to bring:
Gently used clothing
Winter attire (coats, boots, scarves, gloves, hats)
Other gently used essentials
Refugee Bridge supports newcomers to Canada as they rebuild their lives in a new place. Clothing, especially winter attire, offers warmth, safety, and welcome. This week invites us to open our closets as an act of hospitality, sharing what we have so others can feel at home.
February 22 - MArch 7
Diapers and Baby Formula for Hope Mission
What to bring:
Diapers (any size)
Baby formula
Hope Mission walks alongside families facing crisis, offering care, stability, and support. Diapers and formula are everyday essentials that can be costly and hard to access. This week, our generosity supports parents and caregivers by meeting a need that directly impacts children and families.
March 8 - March 22
Non-Perishable Food for the Food Bank
What to bring:
Non-perishable food items (canned goods, dry goods, unopened pantry items)
Edmonton’s Food Bank serves thousands of individuals and families each month. As we conclude our Journey of Generosity, we’re reminded that food is foundational. This final week invites us to respond collectively, pooling our resources so that no one in our city has to face hunger alone.
Why We’re Doing This
This journey isn’t about obligation or guilt, it’s about formation. As we practice generosity together, we are shaped into a people who notice needs, respond with compassion, and trust that God can multiply what we offer.
Whether you participate in one week or all four, your involvement matters. We believe that small acts, practiced faithfully, can lead to deep transformation—in us and in our city.
Let’s walk this journey together.
If you have any questions about the Journey of Generosity, the practice itself, or anything else, please contact someone from our Ministry Team as we’d be happy to help!
