Norbert Janke, Associate Pastor

Pastor Norb was born and raised in Edmonton, and after graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1989, he graduated from Taylor Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree in 1992. Since then he has served as Associate Pastor at Hawkwood Baptist Fellowship, Calgary (1992-1997) and as Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church, Arnprior, Ontario (1997-2008). When he’s not spending time with his family, he enjoys following sports, playing soccer, running, golfing, and organizing his golf ball collection (he may be the only person who needs to re-grip his ball retriever!).

Melanie Lee, Children’s Director

Melanie grew up in Edmonton, Alberta and attended McKernan Baptist Church with her parents and two younger brothers. She came to faith in Jesus as a result of the teaching that went on in her home and family, but also came to a personal decision to follow Him in her teens while at Camp Caroline. She attended the University of Alberta, but thought it would be fun to sing in a variety of ensembles and in a choir so she went to the North American Baptist College (now Taylor College) for two years. She returned to the U of A, graduated with a Bachelor of Education (Education Psychology and Elementary Generalist) degree, and enjoyed teaching Grade One for a number of years. Currently she is a stay-at-home Mom, although she is hoping to return to the classroom at some point.

Melanie is happily married to Steve and together they have three children, Madison (5), Braden (3), and Carson (2). When not busy caring for her family, providing leadership to the Children’s Ministry and scheduling the numerous volunteers, Melanie loves to run – particularly with her friends from TCC – and enjoys setting a goal and training together to reach it. She also enjoys reading, singing (of course!), and admits to having a weakness for reality shows.

Jenie Mathew, Secretary

Jenie was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. There she attended Ryerson University and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Social Work. Although she is a registered Social Worker, she is currently taking a break and serving at TCC in the area of office administration. As Secretary she produces the weekly Sunday News, manages our database, and looks after the many small but important details.

She moved to Calgary when she married Manoj and six years later they moved to Edmonton. God has blessed them with three children, Mya (7), Yasmeen (5), and Thomas (1). While she works part-time at TCC, she is obviously a full-time, busy mom...cooking, cleaning, driving, changing dirty diapers, and all that other fun stuff! Jenie enjoys cooking, singing, and traveling, but most of all spending quality time with her husband and kids. While she enjoys her full and vibrant life, she secretly would have loved to become a fashion designer!

Nicole is a wife, a mother, a teacher, and has been a director of education for a private tutoring company as well. Nicole is now thrilled to be starting up and directing the new Terwillegar Community Preschool!
